Welcome to ‘Inside MTS’ a new feature we have added to the team letter. Here you will get a short snippet into the world of our colleagues, whether it be a rep, transfer person or commercial, you will get to know them just a little bit better and understand what happens behind scenes of each department, in each of our destinations. For this first ‘Inside MTS’ we have Ivan Groshev of MTS Globe Bulgaria.

Ivan, for those who are not aware tell us all a little about your position and what you do on a day-to-day basis?
I am the Managing Director of MTS Globe Bulgaria. As the job, title says I am in charge of the management of the Bulgarian entity of MTS Globe.

What is it that keeps you motivated to go to work each day?
The motivation drivers for me are:

• the challenge to run an independent company that sets the target to become the market leader and to be the most efficient, modern and technology driven company in Bulgarian tourism business.
  
• To show every day and be a great example to my team, how to work with dedication, passion, precision, and make individuals not be afraid of challenges.
• To be a leader of a young team eager for knowledge, self-development and results.
• To make them enjoying their time in the office and be proud of their work.

What is it that you like best about your job?
What makes me feel good is that the tourism business is developing very fast, opening for new technology and we have to keep pace and be always at least one step ahead. What makes me very happy is the fact that MTS Globe is independent from a big corporation and has a human face. All countries have respect for each other, work closely together and everybody can speak out. There is no “I say, you do” rule. We have a great company culture.

And what do you like the least?
Well, I wouldn’t say I don’t really like it, but my job is related to lots of travelling, which means I spend a lot of time away from home.

Are there any challenges in your job? If so, how do you handle them?
The challenges are there every day, maybe every hour. Each of them need an individual approach, so it is hard to generalize.

How would you describe the MTS Bulgaria customers and how do you prepare for their arrival?
We have customers from all over Europe. For any source market, we have a specific preparation, coordinated with the tour operators. Right now, we are preparing the start of the Jet2Holidays Program to Bulgaria, which means a lot of work but the results are very encouraging and we have a great support from the Jet2Holidays Head Office.

Are there any funny stories you could share with us…?
I can tell quiet many but the one that always makes me laugh is a story about an hotelier, who wanted to solve the exclusivity issues, when separating the tour operators from same source market on different floors – Company X gets exclusivity on floor one, Company Y gets exclusivity on floor 2 and so on.

Being a Managing Director can be demanding but do you have time to enjoy any free time/hobbies outside of work?
There is not really much time for hobbies but I like, skiing, reading, going to live concerts, and most of all – spending time with my daughter. 🙂
